Living Biodiversity: Turning Visitors into Conservation Participants

Contexto | Context

The Vinhais Biological Park can play a more active role in generating knowledge about biodiversity and engaging the public in conservation. Citizen science tools, low-cost sensors, smartphones, and artificial intelligence create new opportunities for visitors, students, researchers, and local communities to contribute to observing, identifying, and monitoring species and habitats. The challenge is to transform a visit into a meaningful and active conservation experience, while ensuring the quality of the information collected, respect for animal welfare, and the protection of ecosystems. This leads to the core question: how can visitors move from simply observing biodiversity to actively contributing to understanding and protecting it?
